A New Leaf:
Reimagining Henry Shaw's Museum
A New Leaf is an HEC-TV documentary, following the 18-month long restoration and conservation of Henry Shaw’s original museum at the Missouri Botanical Garden.
The museum was built in 1859, but for decades it has been vacant and closed to the public.
Now, at a cost of $8 million, it is being returned to its original glory, including its tremendous, historic ceiling mural, depicting plants of the world, which is being meticulously recreated by art conservators working in St. Louis and New York.
HEC’s Paul Schankman has been filming the progress since the first nail was pulled, and will share, step by step, this extraordinary project full of lots of surprises and rich in St. Louis history in the spring of 2018.
